Some say that as soon as the first multipurpose
wheeled vehicle was chiseled
from granite, the eager test pilot immediately disappeared over the horizon,
carving fresh single track in his wake.
Others may claim the first Mixed Terrain Cycle Tourists were the Buffalo
Soldiers
of the 25th infantry regiment; Fort Missoula, 1897. These brave men proved
that
personnel on bicycles can travel extended distances. What their early
machines
lacked in metallurgy and working brakes, the riders made up for in backbone.
After much endeavor, the Army determined the Bicycle of 1897 was not the
same
thing as a horse.
This machine is exactly what the soldiers of Fort Missoula would have
had if this
Tucson frame builder could open a portal to 1897. This is the bicycle
that
could have changed the fate of horses and Humvees.
